Background information on artificial human skin scents
Biogents developed artificial scents that mimic human skin odors. Using special formulation technology and scent dispensers, attractant components are released in precisely the right amounts to produce a finely tuned mixture of scents which increase the capture rates of mosquito traps especially for Ae. albopictus and Ae. aegypti.
BG-Sweetscent increases catch rates of many traps for Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus
The BG-Sweetscent is the first attractant targeting Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus that has been scientifically proven to work with many different mosquito traps: Scientific studies show that using our attractant BG-Sweetscent in a variety of commercially available mosquito traps can increase catch rates of mosquitoes that transmit diseases like dengue, Zika or chikungunya.
Two studies from independent organizations in Florida and Louisiana showed the effect of the BG-Sweetscent on different traps with similar study design: Each trap was tested with and without the BG-Sweetscent attractant:
